Her Work

Motivational Speaker

Phyllis Yvonne Stickney toured for 13 years with AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN ON TOUR as a keynote speaker. The ESSENCE MUSIC FESTIVAL invited Ms. Stickney to speak as a panelist with the annual EMPOWERMENT SEMINARS for four consecutive years. She also held the coveted spot of host of the MAIN STAGE at the SUPERDOME. Ms. Stickney set the precedent that Monique later followed.

In 2001, Ms. Stickney directed the stage show BEEN THERE DONE THAT with Judge Mathis and gospel artist Fred Hammond. The production was the first of the genre to sell out the Paramount Theater at MADSION SQUARE GARDEN. She received special notices and favorable reviews for bringing integrity to the gospel stage play. ALTERNATIVE CAREERS IN THE ARTS is an entertainment industry training program that Ms. Stickney developed. The program offers hands-on training in the technical and administrative disciplines of film, television and theatre production.

Phyllis Yvonne Stickney is one of the writers included in the anthology NINE BLACK COMEDY PLAYS. Her book, LOUD THOUGHTS FOR QUIET MOMENTS, is a collection of poetry and personal perspectives. Selected pieces were recorded on her CD of the same title. The CD has sold out on CDbaby.com. At live performances, she is a crowd pleaser with the unexpected proficiency as a poet and spoken word artist.

Some of her productions include the SOULFUL SATURDAYS Series in Los Angeles, CA; LAUGHTER & LYRICS in Jamaica, West Indies; and The UPPER ROOM POETRY & PLAYWRIGHTS WORKSHOP in New York City and Los Angeles. She is currently developing the one-woman production P.S. I’M STILL STANDING for a tour. She was the producer and host of THE COMEDY CONNECTION Series at the world-famous COTTON CLUB in Harlem, New York. Ms. Stickney was selected by the National Black MBA Association to co-produce and host the annual banquet and awards show in the DISNEY property in Orlando, Florida. Productions like SHOWTIME AT THE APOLLO were sold to network television by the pilot, which featured Ms. Stickney as the brilliant comedienne who was slated to be the first host of the televised version. Phyllis Yvonne Stickney has been the vision carrier for years.
